Our Nurse of the Month initiative is designed to highlight the journey, achievements, and experiences of some of the most hard-working nurses we have had the pleasure of assisting to identify their dream jobs. Without further ado, we would like to introduce March Nurse of the Month, Trica, from Scotland.
Trica’s Story
We are incredibly proud of Trica and her achievements as a Registered Nurse in Scotland. In such a short period of time, she has made her mark and become a favourite among her colleagues and patients.

Get to know Trica
Q: When did you realise that a career in nursing was right for you? Was there a particular moment in your life?
A: I think it was around the age of 13 or 14 that I performed my first CPR on my neighbour, while accompanying him to the hospital. I’ve always been surrounded by people, especially the elderly with whom I assisted them with their medications or eye drops, and even dressed a few wounds. I think it was those moments that helped prepare me for my role as a nurse. Looking back, those moments when I was able to help someone without any nursing experience made me choose a career in nursing.
Q: What was your journey like in securing a role through WESolutions?
A: My journey with WESolutions has been better than what I had initially expected. I was asked by a fellow colleague to drive her to the interview location with WESolutions one morning. She later encouraged me to do the interview with her as well and both of us were successful.
My journey was a smooth one thanks to the staff at WESolutions who were always available to answer questions or clear misconceptions. Their expertise in what they do is evident. My process was fast and hassle-free, there were no questions that they couldn’t answer. The best thing about being with WESolutions is that the staff members are always available and ever ready to help!
Q: What advice would you give to young people considering a career in nursing?
A: Nursing is more than just being at the bedside or administering medication. Nursing is a service to mankind. Nursing may not be your first choice but when you start, you’ll find this profession very rewarding, and you’ll eventually start enjoying it.
Every day will be different – one day you may have a very bad day and the other day can be extraordinarily great especially when you hear one of your residents or patients say, “Thank you, Nurse.” Overall, this is a rewarding experience where you get to give back to mankind and that is a positive move.
Q: Do you have any standout memories/funny/interesting stories from your career as a nurse?
A: I had a phenomenal experience on one occasion when I was treating this one lady at her end of life. As I checked in on her, she was praying. I softly asked her if I could join her, and we prayed together for a few minutes. I then left to follow up with the GP. Following my next check on her about 10 minutes later, as I entered the room, she turned towards me, smiled and then she passed away.
She looked so peaceful. I cannot forget that look on her face and her smile at that very moment.
Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
A: I don’t like to see people crying – so I wish could have a superpower to control this.
