January Nurse of the Month – Wilbert

Feb 03, 2022

At WESolutions, we believe that our responsibilities do not end once we have helped an amazing nurse secure a new role. Our goal is to build long lasting relationships that goes above and beyond that. We’ve been committed to understanding the hopes, dreams and aspirations of the people we work with so that they can build the career (and life) that they want.

Our Nurse of the Month initiative is designed to highlight the journey, achievements, and experiences of some of the most talented nurses we have had the pleasure of assisting to identify their dream jobs. Without further ado, we would like to introduce January’s Nurse of the Month, Wilbert.

Q: When did you realise that a career in nursing was right for you? Was there a particular moment in your life?

A: When I finished high school, nursing was the best available career option for me at that time. In the beginning when I started the training, I had a negative attitude towards the profession and did not like the course at all. But as time passed, my passion grew. I started to see the endless opportunities that comes with this profession, especially the idea of relocating overseas and practising nursing in a new country.

Q: What was your journey like in securing a role through WESolutions?

A: After qualifying, I worked in Zimbabwe for 7 years. Then one day, I saw an advertisement on Facebook from WESolutions about recruiting overseas nurses. That’s when I decided to contact them. I remember getting in touch with Sangeeta, who assisted me with the whole process. And to be honest, the entire process was smooth and beyond me expectation! I got all the help I needed – from preparing for NMC-CBT to the airport pickup. I’m surprised even after 2 years in the UK, WESolutions still keeps in touch to check in with me and see how I am coping professionally. They are a very professional organization, which prioritises the welfare of their candidates and clients.

Q:  What advice would you give to young people considering a career in nursing?
A: Nursing is a good profession. People join nursing for different reasons, but ultimately it is to work in a profession that helps others live better lives. It is all about making a difference in people’s lives. My advice to anyone who wants to join nursing is simple – go for it, you will never regret any second of it.

Q: Do you have any standout memories/funny/interesting stories from your career as a nurse?
A: Well, it came as a big surprise to me when I was nominated and later won the National Best Clinical Lead Finalists Award. It was a great honour and blessing to be appreciated for the work I do, especially throughout the tough pandemic months.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

A: None, I don’t believe in superpowers.
